D Rosen is a semi-nomadic artist currently living on the stolen and occupied lands of the Council of the Three Fires, commonly known as Chicago, IL. They operate from the position that questions of animality are not binary but rather a tangle of ecologies and richly complicated identities framed by culture. Rosen attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2018, received an MFA from the University of Chicago in 2013, and a BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2011. They exhibit and publish internationally. In 2023, Rosen had exhibitions in Chicago, IL, at Weinburg/Newton Gallery and Bird Show and in Reykjavík, Iceland, at KANNSKI and Arnarhlíð 1. The same year, they completed three-month residencies at USF Verftet, in partnership with S12 glass studio in Bergen, Norway, focusing on queer vampire Bats. In 2024, their text titled "Gorgets: Trans Hummingbirds and Iridescent Echos" will be published in the "Queering Nature" issue of Antennae: The Journal of Nature in Visual Culture.
